Who Is Saraswati Devi ?

[ This is a Guest Post by Mr.C.S.Moorthy (Thank You). You can send us your guest posts through the YOUR CONTENT page]

Rig veda is the oldest treatise in our culture which dates back to many thousands of years. The Rishis who compiled the Rig Veda did mention Saraswati, Ila and Bharati in the mantras. They did not formulate the mantras they were mantra drashtas. They saw the mantras in action.
What they saw in action they have faithfully narrated through the mantras.Since they had this extraordinary perception they were known as 'vipras'.

What did they see? They certainly did not see any unique being sitting on a lotus with veena in her hand and wearing a white saree. They saw the marvellous activity of the human system in its intricate working. They found that human body was made up of a large number of cells. Broadly there were three groups: a) neurons, b)blood vessels and c) flesh and muscle. Neurons were unique because they were concerned with sensory activities. They named it Saraswati. Brain can carry on its function only because of neurons which ensures connectivity with every nook and corner of our body. We cannot see these neuron cells as they are minute. Neurons are assisted in their activity by Axons (Ila) and Dendrites (Bharati) as modern science has discovered only in the last 50 years or so. Modern science has derived their knowledge through mathematical formula a tentative finding at best!

Solar Eclipse : rituals to overcome miseries

A Solar eclipse is a phenomenon which has made many civilizations look up in awe. It is of course scientifically known that a solar eclipse happens when the moon comes in between the earth and the Sun. But, there are still a lot of mysterious aspects related to eclipses. We are still unaware of the changes that go on in the environment while a solar eclipse occurs. Speaking scientifically or astrologically, the Sun is predominantly responsible for maintaining life on Earth.  It is said that the time in which an eclipse occurs leads to an exponential increase in the growth of dangerous micro-organisms , and is hence not a safe time even speaking on a scientific basis. Thus , a solar eclipse is a time which requires caution and devotion to protect oneself from any possible miseries. It i advisable to burn dry neem leaves and dry cow dung during solar eclipses so that the fumes will keep the growth of micro-organisms under control. The following is a special and powerful mantra that can help to relieve a person's horoscope from being affected by the misfortunes related to an eclipse :

om sadashiva sarveshwara raksha raksha mahadeva

solar eclipse 2012

ॐ सदाशिव सर्वेश्वर रक्ष रक्ष महादेव

People on whose star the solar eclipse occur, should chant the above Shiva mantra 108 times on the solar eclipse day. After the mantra chanting, it is highly advisable to go to a nearby Shiva temple and perform a Mrityunjaya homa. [There is a solar eclipse on May 20, 2012]. Om namah shivaya

Saraswati Mantra - For Success In Education And Career

Saraswati Devi is synonymous with knowledge, arts and auspiciousness. Many times in life there are situations in which we experience blocks in studies and career. Such incidents often hamper our performance in examinations and jobs. Even if we prepare well and are confident , we may not be able to use the knowledge when it is most essential. Such problems may be due to the misappropriate position of the planet mercury / budha in your horoscope. Appeasing Devi Saraswati is highly beneficial in countering the planet mercury/budha and for removing such problems in education and career. The Saraswati Mantra below is a very powerful one that can be chanted by such people

om vageeshwaryae vidmahe vagwadeenyae dhimahe tannah saraswati prachodayat

saraswati mantra

ॐ वागीश्वर्यै विद्महे वाग्वादीन्ये दीमहे तन्नः सरस्वती प्रचोदयात

Chant the above Saraswati mantra 64 times each in the morning and evening. It is advised to start mantra saadhana on a Wednesday morning. Practice the mantra for 21 consecutive days to get the blessings of Devi Saraswati. This mantra can be practiced by anyone and is highly useful for success in all fields of learning and work.

Dear Gurudevs,

I have seen a posting in another group criticizing badly the eating and drinking habits of people as a hindrance to the Hindu unity, which made me write this.
Hindu is not an individual; Hindu is a society(samooham)!

The best comparison is the Coconut. Coconut has many parts – The outer covering with ‘coir’. Inside it the hard shell. Within that the sweet, soft, clean and white fruit & the sweet, clean and refreshing juice.
The white fruitious part can be compared to the knowledgeable persons [let us term it the brahmins] and the juice ‘the Customs & Rituals’.

The Brahmins are CREATED from the nectar(customs & rituals). Thus the term ‘Dwija(born again)’. All are born as ‘human’; by virtues become ‘brahmin’. They get mature immersed in the sweet & pure nectar, while a part also contributes to the hard shell. The hard shell & ‘coir’cover protect the brahmins(or the Jnanis, or temples, or Sanathana Dharma). The protection can be physical and/or economical. In return the brahmins keep-up their own quality and impart or radiate good quality upto the outer shell. (If you doubt that the inner fruit does not affect the coir cover, just ask the coconut vender next time you go to drink a tender coconut).

The ‘coir’ cover is the 1st layer of protection. It is vulnerable and not hard. But being numerous & fibrous it does not allow easy aggression. Only through determined action can this part be removed. It may get bruised; still the coconut is good. It keeps the coconut floating even in a flood. But once the coir cover is gone, the coconut is under attack. One can remove the nectar easily. A coconut from which the nectar is removed, decays fast. Hence it is the necessity of brahmins to upkeep the ‘less knowledged’ around them. They cannot simply be expelled telling that they are unclean & unsweet. It is not in their nature. A thing cannot be soft as well as strong at the same time. They ought to be as they are, but should be imparted knowledge to keep them in their own good health.

The coconut is WHOLE with the crown.
Without the crown also it is called a ‘coconut’.
Without the coir shell is also called a ‘coconut’.
Without the nectar is also called a ‘coconut’.
Without the hard shell is also called a ‘coconut’.

But,

Coir shell without the ‘white fruit’ is called just ‘coir’.
Hard shell alone is called just ‘hard shell’.
White fruit alone is still called ‘coconut’.

However,
Big and beautiful the whole coconut be, if the white fruit is bad, the coconut is termed bad.
The outer shell and inner shell are still used for coir making and burning.

Bad(improper) nectar (customs & rituals) can decay the white fruit.
Decayed white fruit decays the nectar.
The decayed white part is simply thrown away with a curse.

So it is a must for the ‘Hindus’ to co-exist looking after their respective dharmas.
Everyone should know that they are born in their status due to their ‘poorva janma karmaphala’. So the ‘luckier’ should further improve their status by continuing ‘good karmas’ and the ‘unlucky’ do more ‘good karmas’ without complaints to compensate for their previous debt.
AND ALL BE CAREFUL ABOUT THE WIDE SPREAD FELLING OF THE TENDER COCONUTS, NOT ALLOWING THEM TO MATURE. VOLANTARILY SOME COCONUTS BE AVAILABLE TO BE USED AS SEEDS.

Sreekrishnarppanamasthu,

Pranams,
RAJEEVKUMAR
