Useful Daily Prayer Slokas



karaagre vasate lakshmih karamadhye saraswatikaramuule tu govindah prabhaate karadarshanam 

When we wake up: The front part of the hands (the finger tips) are ascribed to Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth. The middle part (the palm) is ascribed to Goddess Saraswati - the Goddess of learning. The root (the part of of hand near the wrist) is ascribed to Govinda. Therefore, every morning, one should have a respectful look at one's hand which symbolizes honest labor. 

samudravasane devi parvata sthanamandale vishhnupatni namastubhyam paadasparsham kshamasvame 

When we are about to put our feet down: O! Mother Earth, who has the ocean as clothes and mountains and forests on her body, who is the wife of Lord Vishnu, I bow to you. Please forgive me for touching you with my feet. 

Gange cha Yamune chaiva Godavari Saraswati, Narmade Sindhu Kaveri jalesmin sannidhim kuru 



When taking shower: In this water, I invoke the presence of holy waters from the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Saraswati, Narmada, Sindhu and Kaveri. This sloka can be recited while taking a bath. 


Aakaashaath patitam toyam yathaa gachchhati saagaram sarvadeva namaskaaraam keshavam pratigachchhati 



O Lord Keshava !Like all the rivers flow into and merge with the one and the same ocean, devotion shown by the people to any name or form of God does reach the same Divinity, you. 


Shubham karoti Kalyaanam Aarogyam dhana sampada Shatrubudhi vinaashaya Deepajyothi namostuthe Krishnaya Vasudevaya Haraye paramaatmane 
Pranathah klesha naashaaya Govindaaya namonamaha 



When lighting a lamp: Just like the light from this map, spread happiness, prosperity, health in out lives. Just like you get rid of darness, get rid of our ignorance. 


brahmaarpanam brahma havih brahmaagnau brahmanaa hutam brahmaiva tena gantavyam brahma-karma-samaadhinaa 


Before eating food: He who thinks that the act of offering as Brahman, the sacrificer as Brahman, the fire into which the sacrifice is made as Brahman and is thus fully engrossed in Consciousness obtains Brahman Itself This sloka is recited as a daily prayer prior to eating as an offering to God (Naivedyam) that sanctifies the food.

praanaa paana samaayuktam, pachaamyannam chaturbhujam 
Annapurna
Annapurne sadaapurne Shankara praana vallabhe
